Early porcelain peel with gold_edited
Processing parts
So what I have created so far on the theme of CITRUS [or could it be ZEST?] is a number of smallish (5”) porcelain sculptures, poised on cylindrical shiny black plinths with a scarlet felt cushioning on their bottom. The pieces are white and lined inside with gold lustre. This is produced by tearing grapefruit to peel it ‘in one’, the fruit is removed - and enjoyed – and the peel is retained in one piece!.. The thick outer skin is dried and used as a mould for the porcelain clay to be pressed into the inner cavernous shape. Like the fine skin on each segment and the pips, it is preserved for later raw citrus installations.
